Soil Permeability Lab

The soil lab at Enviro-Ag Engineering performs the following tests in soil:

  • Triaxial Permeability
  • Atterberg Limits
  • Standard Proctor Density
These tests are conducted in order to verify that lagoons and ponds meet state and federal seepage requirements and don't release wastewater into public drinking water.
Our newly remodeled soil lab is capable of processing up to 25 samples simultaneously, and is the largest in the Texas panhandle.

The soil lab is operated by chemist Rick Baker and is supervised by E.I.T. Michael Mears. Please contact us for more information.

Permeability refers to the ability to allow water to pass through. Thus a sandy soil would be more permeable than a clay soil, because it allows more water to pass through. This is a very important factor in the construction of wastewater retention structures, to prevent excess wastewater seeping through the pond into the groundwater.
